A Few Words About Me

Malton Cook, Jr

My name is Malton Cook, and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the state of Texas. I have worked in the mental health field since 2011 post completion of my Bachelors of Art in Psychology at University of Texas at Dallas and later went on to complete my Masters of Art in Professional Counseling at Amberton University.  During my time in mental health I have worked in several settings which include but not limited to inpatient mental health treatment, outpatient mental health treatment, residential dual diagnosis treatment, and most recently integrated behavioral health.

My experience included working with individuals across the life span from age 18 to 85. My ideal populations are adjustment issues/ life transition issues, depression, anxiety, anger management, mood disorders, millennials, individuals of color, and LGBTQIA+. My therapeutic approach includes person centered and solution focused. Clients are experts of their life. My goal is to help direct clients into personal satisfaction through change.

Services

Virtual Therapy Session

Attend therapy from the comfort and convenience of your home, or wherever else you have an internet connection. With online therapy, you get deep with your therapist while sipping tea in your favorite comfy chair, snuggled in your pajamas, or between work meetings.

Individual Therapy Session

Work individually with a licensed therapist who will provide you with individualized mental health treatment. Whether you are seeking treatment for a mental illness, support for a recent life change, or help in a specific area of your life, individual therapy is just between you and your therapist. Therapy sessions typically occur weekly.

Confidentiality

Confidentiality protects your privacy to share freely and openly in our sessions together. Your sessions and all information you disclose are confidential. Except for the instances stated below, which are required by law, we will not share information or respond to inquiries of any kind from any source without your written consent:

  1. If in our clinical judgment, you pose a threat to harm yourself, and you refuse appropriate treatment, we are ethically bound to notify the appropriate parties. 
  2. If you indicate a serious threat to harm another person, we are legally required to warn law enforcement. 
  3. We are required to report any suspicion of child or elder abuse or neglect to the appropriate authorities.
